{{Template:CS}} {{archive}} '''[https://forums.eve-scout.com/topic/8737/future-of-1420-haulers Please read this forum post regarding 1420.Haulers]''' Sometimes Signaleers need to move items and ships around New Eden and don't have the skill points, the ships, or the experience to do the job just right. : '''1420.Haulers is here to help our Alliance members!''' == What is 1420.Haulers == 1420.Haulers (formerly Eve-Scout Hauling) is an in-corp service oriented initiative started by former Signaleer Mathis Chanlin to help connect members who need to haul stuff, with members who have hauling abilities. It aims to help members to move their stuff around as well as to provide income opportunities to members who take on these hauling jobs. == How Does It Work? == EVE Online has a special type of "Contract" called '''"Courier Contracts"'''. With courier contracts, a client can specify what items need to be shipped from Location A to Location B. Like normal contracts, they can be public or private. Appropriate haulers can browse these contracts and choose which jobs to accept. The hauler gets reward money after finishing a job, and the client gets their items delivered. π == 1420.Haulers Step by Step == # Clients should create an alliance-wide courier contract # Clients should join the "1420.Haulers" mailing list # Clients should send a message to the "1420.Haulers" mailing list to alert alliance members of the new job request. Please drag and drop your contract into the mail for reference. # Haulers should join the "1420.Haulers" mailing list to receive notifications of new job requests. # Haulers should review the contracts carefully and accept a contract at their own discretion. * If a client has any questions before making a contract, feel free to ask questions in [https://forums.eve-scout.com/topic/1278/1420-haulers-faq-frequently-asked-questions the forum] or by sending a mail to the "1420.Haulers" mailing list. * If a hauler has any questions about a specific contract, please contact the client directly. * If anyone notices questionable or fraudulent Courier Contracts, please notify a [https://wiki.signalcartel.space/Who_Does_What_and_Who_To_Contact_in_the_Corp/Alliance Signal Cartel Recruiter or Leadership]. == EVEMail Format == ==== Single Contract ==== : Example format: :: '''Subject:''' pick up system >> drop off system (volume) :: '''Message text:''' :: [link to contract] [any details or notes about trip/cargo you want to pass along, which is optional.] ==== Multiple Contracts ==== If posting multiple contracts, post them all to one message. : Example format: :: '''Subject:''' Multiple Contracts :: '''Message Text:''' :: [Contract 1] pick up >> drop off (volume) :: [Contract 2] pick up >> drop off (volume) == FAQ == '''How do I join the 1420.Haulers mailing list?''' ''"To subscribe, open the in-game mail client, open the "EVE Mail" tab and click on the "Add Mailing List" button on the bottom left."'' - Mathis '''How do I create a Courier Contract?''' Please see: This EVE Uni article [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Contract#Courier_Contract here] (courier section & create contract section) '''How much reward should I specify?''' ''"I recommend 500k-1mil per jump through high sec... Depending on risk for the hauler, you might consider more or less."'' - Mathis ''"You should always offer a reward of 1-2M/jump for high sec and maybe a bit more for low or null or super long trips."'' - Mynxee Since it's in-corp, we encourage members to talk to each other if they see rewards that are too high or too low. It is recommended to use Mathis/Mynxee figures as minimum reference, but also weigh in the risk and benefits you are getting from your fellow member's service. '''What's a collateral?''' ''"Something pledged as security for repayment of a loan, to be forfeited in the event of a default."'' - Oxford Basically, in order to ship anything, the client needs to hand over valuable goods to the hauler. As insurance against hauler running away or dying with your shipment, the hauler agrees to deposit a "collateral" sum of money in the contract system. When the job is complete, the hauler will get both collateral back, as well as reward money. If a job fails, the client will not get his her shipment back, and instead get the collateral money. In this case, the hauler will lose the collateral. '''How much should I set the collateral?''' Client should set the collateral to the value of shipment goods in case it is lost. If there is time value and or logistics value to the job, it is also acceptable to set it a little higher than the goods value itself. Haulers should review the collateral and other contract details carefully and only accept jobs with reasonable values. You can always contact a client directly to work things out. '''How much volume can I ship?''' The preferred type of ship for many members seems to be Blockade Runners and Deep Space Transports (DST). Perhaps use the cargo capacity of these types of ships as starting point, or ask in the mailing list before creating your Courier Contract. '''I want to use my out-of-corp alt to do the hauling.''' That's a great idea and the de-facto way to do it in New Eden! The way other "professional" hauling corporations do it is to accept the courier contract on an in-corp 'official' character, then contract the package over to out-of-corp alt themselves, haul, deliver, contract back to in-corp, and deliver already in station again. The advantages of this is that: * clients always contract to official corporation member(s) * clients do not know who the out-of-corp alt is assigned to carry out the mission * (minor) double courier contracted packages cannot be cargo scanned [afaik] '''Have a different question?''' Please ask on the forums [https://forums.eve-scout.com/topic/1278/1420-haulers-faq-frequently-asked-questions here] and the question will be added to the FAQ when answered. '''Is something incorrect in this guide? Have a suggestion on how 1420.Haulers should operate?''' Please reply to [https://forums.eve-scout.com/topic/1278/1420-haulers-faq-frequently-asked-questions/2 this thread] in the forums if something is incorrect or should be changed. == Further Reading (Resources) == ==== EVE Uni Guides ==== * [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Moving_your_items Moving Your Items] * [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Contracts Contracts] * [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Hauling Hauling] * [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Creating_an_Alt_Hauler Creating an Alt Hauler] * [http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Hauling_101 Hauling 101 (historical)] ==== CCP HelpDesk Article ==== * [https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/203218982-Courier-Contracts Courier Contracts] ==== Red Frog Alliance ==== * [https://red-frog.org/red_calculator Red Frog Freight] (highsec shipping service) * [https://red-frog.org/black_calculator Black Frog Logistics] (lowsec/nullsec shipping service) ==== [https://www.pushx.net/index.php Push Industries] ==== * [https://www.pushx.net/quote.php PushX] (highsec, lowsec, nullsec, Thera, and SOV shipping service) (Note: It is recommended to use the above Red Frog and PushX calculators as absolute maximum estimates.
