Corp/Alliance Standings
Official Position on Standings[edit]
The following is our official position on standings, as shown in our in-game corp description:
REGARDING STANDINGS REQUESTS: EvE-Scout Enclave and all corps under its umbrella (including Signal Cartel) are publicly-declared neutral entities that treat all other corps and alliances as blues. We do not aggress others (except in self-defense upon being aggressed). Because of this public policy, we have chosen to minimize our admin overhead by not setting blue standings toward others except in rare circumstances. If you would like to honor our neutral status by setting us blue, we would certainly appreciate it.
Who Sets Standings?[edit]
When it comes to standings, corp standings are set by the CEO and any Directors. Katia Sae is the Alliance Executor and therefore the only one who can manage alliance standings.
We have had standings with regard to other corps and alliances in the past. We no longer do, as of 2020-Dec-27, and we have no plans to set any entity outside the EvE-Scout Enclave alliance to blue in the future. All entities will remain neutral. We may occasionally set an entity (player, corp, or alliance) to negative standings as a temporary warning to corp members.
If someone you encounter in New Eden talks about mutual standings, please remind the player that we treat everyone as blue already and point them to our in-game corp description.
Why Did We Have Standings Set at an Alliance or Corp Level in the Past?[edit]
There are three main reasons:
- Standings were set long ago before our current and clear policy was in place. Many of these standings are outdated in terms of the corps or pilots no longer being relevant or active; we regularly monitor these standings for relevance.
- Some standings are set to support the mechanics of access required by Player Owned Starbases (POS) and Citadels. This is only relevant for our Anoikis Division as that is the only group in Signal Cartel that has anchored structures.
- Rarely, larger organizations are set mutual blue for the convenience of our members in being able to see that they represent no threat to us. We may sometimes set certain entities red (negative standings) to make them more visible on the overview; this is a very rare occurrence. For example, alts of known and persistent corp thieves/griefers have been set red in the past for temporary high visibility.
In EVE Online, the generally accepted assumption about standings is that if you're mutual blue to someone, you are expected to fleet up or otherwise be helpful to them. Or if someone is red to you, you are free to attack them. This is NOT true in Signal Cartel. Aside of the situation in the Anoikis Division where standings are sometimes set to enable support asset access, any standings set at the alliance or corp level are only for convenience in identifying threats that need special attention for some reason.
