Signal Cartel uses a variety of out-of-game tools and programs to assist us in our exploration efforts.  While this list is not exhaustive, some of the most popular ones are listed below.  FYI:  Quite a few of these tools were created by fellow Signaleers!

=== [https://evescoutrescue.com/copilot/ Allison, Your Signal Cartel Co-Pilot] ===
It doesn't feel right to put Allison into the tools category as she has quite a personality. Allison accompanies Signaleers in space as a co-pilot and also participates in online discussions on the EvE-Scout Enclave Discord server.  Allison was brought to life by A Dead Parrot!

As a co-pilot, Allison provides a lot of useful information, especially for ESRC and SAR service participants. She includes the status of a rescue cache in the current system, the discovery of a system with a stranded pilot, a warning about recent kills and gate camps, and also the list of SC pilots who are in the same wormhole system as you are. All this information is not only written in Allison's visual interface but is also spoken by her, so that you don't have to switch between windows to read it. On [[Public:EvE-Scout_Enclave_Discord_Server|Discord]], Allison can show you some in-game information (ESI requests), provide links to the corporation information resources (link requests) and reply to messages which mention her name. For full guidance on interaction with Allison on Discord, type '''/help''' in any channel on the corp server.  The Allison Discord bot is overseen by Sky Diamond.

Exploration frigates have a limited cargo capacity.  On long roams through wormhole space, it can be difficult to know what loot to keep and what to jettison to make the most of your finite space. The Cargo Sorter tool removes this guesswork by helping to optimize the contents of your cargo hold for maximum ISK efficiency.  Min-Maxing your loot has never been easier!  This tool was developed by our very own, Mzsbi Haev, and is based on solving the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knapsack_problem knapsack problem].

=== [http://www.eve-scout.com EvE-Scout Thera and Turnur Wormhole Connections (eve-scout.com)] ===
As a public service to all of New Eden, EvE-Scout maintains a freely accessible website listing all of the current wormhole connections into and out of Thera and Turnur.  This is the fruit of the [[TS:Thera_and_Turnur_Scanning|EvE-Scout Scanning Endeavor]] that new Signaleers are welcome to participate in!  We always scan, so you don't always have to!

Important note:
* Our wondrous co-pilot Allison also pulls data from the Eve-Scout Scanning Endeavor.  [https://wiki.signalcartel.space/ENG:The_Signal_Cartel_Official_Guide_to_Co-Pilot_(Allison)#The_Buttons Allison's user interface] has a button called "ROUTES".  This is Allison's built-in travel routing tool.  It calculates the shortest distance to multiple systems at the same time using Thera and Turnur wormhole connections plus any wormholes you have traveled through.

Learning to navigate New Eden without first knowing the language of the game is a highly difficult task.  Webpages, forum posts, and even our own wiki can contain heavy jargon that makes trying to comprehend the underlying content a lesson in frustration.  Allison's creator and fellow Signaleer, A Dead Parrot, developed the New Eden Word Bank (NEWB) to automagically translate such jargon into regular English so that new players can understand the acronyms and terms used in the game with ease. Learn EVE jargon fast with NEWB!

In EVE Online, as in life, knowledge is one of the keys to success.  For Signaleers, one piece of critical information is to know the danger level of the current system you are exploring. Are the pilots in local with you active PvPers?  Instead of individually looking up each name on zKillboard, Signal Cartel's Little Helper enables you to determine the PvP history of every pilot at once and thus the threat they may pose to you and your ship.  Signal Cartel's Little Helper was developed by Portia Tigana, a Signaleer!

=== [[Public:Signal_Cartel_Overview_Pack|Signal Cartel Overview Pack]] ===
EVE Uni states that the in-game overview, "...is one of the most essential components of EVE's user interface, and is the primary means of viewing items in space. It is a customizable list of interactive entries and can assist players with virtually every activity performed in space. Though it can be time-consuming to configure, the flexibility and effectiveness of a properly-configured overview justifies the time spent."

Luckily, our talented corpmate, Bernard Lachapelle, has created a custom overview pack tailored for Signal Cartel and our explorations across New Eden.  While it will perform well in other scenarios such as PvE and PvP, it does not feature as many presets as some of the more specialized overviews available elsewhere. The Signal Cartel Overview Pack is meant to be a lightweight, user-friendly, and no-nonsense alternative for veterans and new players alike!  

=== [https://scan.eve-scout.com/ Hub Scan Tool] ===
This is another excellent tool created by Mzsbi Haev to help with the workflow of [[TS:Thera_and_Turnur_Scanning|Thera and Turnur Scanning]], which sometimes involves operating under adverse conditions. The Hub Scan Tool is a web-based program to help new Signaleers learn to do it well and seasoned ones to do it faster. The tool makes it quick to see what signatures and corporate bookmarks are expired or new, then makes updating them easier and more consistent.

In EVE Online, gatecamps are a fact of life.  A gatecamp is defined as a hostile group of players that sit at a stargate with the intention of catching unsuspecting ships attempting to use said gate.  There are many different types of gatecamps depending on the campers' goals and the area of space they are camping.  EVE Uni has an excellent [https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Gate_camps overview of gatecamps] as does greybill on [https://thegreybill.com/2020/01/29/gate-camp-survival-guide-for-eve-online how to survive gatecamps].

With time, you will become familiar with the well-known gatecamps and choke points throughout New Eden. However, EVE is expansive and as explorers, we often travel into the unknown.  For these times and others, EVE Gatecamp Check is an invaluable navigation tool specifically aimed at helping players to avoid gates where kills are currently taking place.

=== [https://tripwire.eve-apps.com Tripwire] ===
Tripwire is an open-source wormhole mapping tool used by EvE-Scout Rescue, the Anoikis Division, and Signaleer line members that allows pilots to document, build, and map wormhole chains.  Through the use of collaborative "masks", pilots can share their wormhole maps with other pilots to collectively coordinate their efforts for various purposes.  While Tripwire seems complicated to use at first, various guides are available to help demystify this useful tool:

=== [https://zkillboard.com/ zKillboard] ===
EVE Online generates a killmail for every in-game player ship destroyed in New Eden (both via PvE and PvP).  Killmails contain a wide variety of useful information about the ship loss and are a great learning tool to find out "what happened".  

Out-of-game public killboards attempt to aggregate and present this killmail information for all the ship losses that occur throughout New Eden.  One of the most popular public killboards is zKillboard, which can be used to:
* check the activity in a particular system
* gather intel about other capsuleers and corporations
* research ship fits
* and much more!
