Note: If you are announcing a fleet op, it must be one for which you are playing a key role as organizer and FC or Co-FC. Do not announce fleets on behalf of others (especially for characters who are not in Signal Cartel, even if they are former members); own the announcement yourself and identify your role and serve as the primary point of contact. If someone has a character in Signal Cartel and wants to run a fleet on a non-Signal character, that's fine, but their Signal Cartel character needs to post the announcement and identify which non-SC character they will be flying on in the fleet. As always, the Credo always applies.

Best Practices[edit]

When you schedule a fleet op or event, you will need to properly promote it to get good participation. The suggested best practice methodology is:

  • Create a post in the appropriate Discord forum category. The more information you provide, the easier it is for someone to decide whether they can or want to participate. ALWAYS state times in UTC aka "EVE TIME" and include a link to a time zone converter.
  • Ask a Moderator, Division Manager, or Leadership to create a scheduled Discord Event for you (due to permission restrictions). Your event will then be displayed at the top of our Discord channel list. Note that sometimes this is not appropriate due to OPSEC reasons.
  • Create an EVE in-game calendar corp event which includes a tl;dr and a link to the fleet op/event forum post. You need the proper membership level to do this; C2s have this. If you are not C2 yet, you can ask someone with C2 status to post it for you; give them all the relevant info and then double-check to make sure everything is properly posted.
  • PROMOTE IT!
    • Bump your original forum post once a week and the day before. We get new members practically every day and they will have likely missed your previous reminders. Maybe add a fun little tidbit about the op/event in each reminder so people are more motivated to read them.
    • Talk about the op/event in our in-game Alliance chat and link your post there.
    • Mention and link your post in other appropriate Discord channels (watch your OPSEC on our public channels). Also, please don't steal anyone's thunder by posting in their own op or event posts.
    • Announce your op/event in Discord. The announcement should be posted in our #announcements channel. To do this, you'll need to ask a Moderator, Division Manager, or Leadership due to channel permission restrictions. Be sure to include a tl;dr and a link to your post in the announcement. It's best to do this closer to the time of the op/event as this action will immediately ping the entire corp! 😬

Note: It's your job to promote your fleet op or event yourself. "If you promote it, they will come."

Accessing the In-Game Calendar[edit]

For those who may not know how to check their in-game calendar, you can access it in a couple ways:

  • Click the “E” at the top left of your Neocom and navigate to Social —> Calendar.
  • Click the time box on the bottom left of your Neocom.

If we all get into consistent habits about communicating our organized activities, we’ll all benefit. Comments/suggestions about these procedures are of course always welcome!
