Expedition TripTiks |
Signal Cartel Expedition TripTiks are a library of expeditions that take you to various points of interest in New Eden. Most expeditions have a theme or are associated with a specific region or smaller area. TripTiks were created by Mynxee.
What Are They?
TripTiks are one-sheet expedition plans listing waypoints of interest and providing fact-based information about them. Our vision is that capsuleers will use them as navigation guides to visit the waypoints and — prompted by the information in the TripTik — learn more about the interesting things discovered there.
Why Are They Free?
Signal Cartel, as part of the EvE-Scout Enclave Alliance, is a service-oriented corporation. Expedition TripTiks are just one more service we provide to the community because it is fun to do and also because it's a neat way for our explorers to collect their favorite New Eden locations, lore, and history into a format that can be enjoyed by others in space. We hope that our TripTiks will inspire more pilots to explore the many and varied points of interest across the Cluster and lead to a greater appreciation for the vastness and complexity of our universe and those who populate it. If you really enjoy the work that a particular Researcher has put into an Expedition TripTik, tell them thanks by tossing an ISK donation their way.

How Do I Use Them?
It's simple: choose an expedition that sounds like fun, fit up your ship, maybe gather some friends, and chart a route using the waypoints in the selected TripTik.
Shared Bookmarks to all the TripTiks are available in the in-game "Expedition TripTiks" folder. Links to the folder can be found in the following locations:
- Our
Corp
in-game channel under the MOTD - The in-game Corp Bulletins
Neocom → Social → Corporation → Home → Bulletins
under "B1: First Steps as a New Member"
New In-game Folder for Longer Routes
Note: ADD IN THE IN-GAME BOOKMARK FOLDER THAT WAS RECENTLY CREATED.
Since many TripTiks are short, you can also combine multiple expeditions into a longer adventure. By combining and optimizing the TripTiks using jEveAssets you can embark on a comprehensive journey through a total of 87 targeted systems, covering 686 jumps and exploring 603 unique systems. It is a grand adventure that takes you through various regions, both in Non-Sov and Sov spaces, offering a diverse and captivating experience in EVE Online. There are two channels that have been created for the Non Sov route and the Sov route with detailed instructions and waypoints that can be added in-game. CCP has stated that there is at least one landmark that has not been found so keep a watchful eye out for anything new or out of the ordinary on your journeys.

TripTik Migration to the Wiki
We're moving all of our existing TripTiks to the wiki. Hopefully, this will make them easier to create, maintain, and curate over time.
- Pick an Expedition TripTik from the original TripTik table at signalcartel.org that hasn't already been moved to it's new home on the wiki located here.
- Use our Expedition TripTik Wiki Page Template as a format/style guide to transfer the info into a new wiki page. Here are two examples of a transferred page: The Elder War Tour and Ancient Races of New Eden.
- Make sure to properly use the TripTikNavi template on your newly created page. Here are the instructions: Template:TripTikNavi.
- NOTE: The footer on the TripTik Wiki Page Template is a WIP and not done yet, so leave this info blank for now on your page.
- Link your newly created TripTik wiki page into the table located here.
ProTips: Double check your work and learn more about editing the wiki here.
How Do I Help Create Them?
Planning a TripTik is a great way to leverage your wanderings into something material that embodies both the spirit of exploration and community service. They are provided as a free service to the community but you might earn extra ISK if people like your TripTiks well enough to tip you in appreciation.
Who Can Participate?
Any Signal Cartel member may participate; all Signaleers are encouraged to submit TripTiks for publication. Those who do are referred to as Expedition Researchers. However, don’t feel like you have to do all of the work yourself. We encourage Signaleers to work together in teams as these do take a fair amount of work.
TripTik Requirements
In order for a TripTik to be published, the following requirements need to be met:
- Expedition Title - Fun, punchy, 25 characters or less
- 1 to 10 waypoints. Requirements for each waypoint are as follows:
- At least one thing of interest to see
- In-game shareable bookmark
- Screenshot(s) without GUI (files appropriately named and described)
- Substantive Expedition Highlights details OR brief highlights for each waypoint including short navigation hints to referenced sites and any reference links
- Expedition Researcher(s) – Lead Researcher and their team members should be listed in the final submission
- Spell-checked and edited before submission
Tips from Mynxee
TripTiks should focus on the why, what, and how of the included sites/locations, presented in a logical flow:
- WHY would someone want to visit this site? It could be because of the related lore, in-game history, compelling visuals, or other reason. This is generally handled in the first paragraph or so.
- WHAT will prospective visitors see when they get there? Briefly describe the physical location and other pertinent details so that prospective visitors can visualize them and have an idea what to expect when they arrive.
- HOW should visitors explore the site? In some cases, there is just one thing to see…a monument or something. In other cases, there maybe several things to see in a site…the TripTik should "take the visitor on a tour" of the site's individual elements with brief descriptions. Even in the case of a single element site like a monument, it's worth encouraging the visitor to view it from various angles, for example, to see what is visible in the background, or notice how the light hits it, etc. People are not always inquisitive, but the TripTik can help them be more so and in the process enjoy more fully the beauty of what exists in New Eden.
How to Research and Submit a TripTik
1. Review the existing TripTiks to get a sense for what they are and what content they include. Be sure to confirm there isn't already an existing TripTik as well as no one is currently working it, which you can check for WIP's in the 🗪1420-expeditionary
Discord forum channel.
2. The Lead Researcher should create a “New Topic” post in our 🗪1420-expeditionary
Discord forum channel on what you’re working on to avoid duplication of effort. Title your forum post with your first draft expedition name and then tag it with “WIP” (see below for the Discord Tags List). Of course, you can change the actual title of the expedition later. In your post, describe what you’re working on and any rough draft thoughts, links to references, or other details. You are not required at this time to list all your team members. Please limit yourself to two (2) WIP's at a time to allow for completion of work before moving on to the next one and give others an opportunity to do some as well. Title example, “Katia Sae Memorial”. Be sure to tag it "WIP".
3. Decide on waypoints to include and gather information about them including system name, site location, and external references. Details must be cited from known good sources (not hearsay) or else identified as speculation or rumors.
4. Write your TripTik up, then spell-check, and edit it for brevity and test any links. Write in a compelling manner that will motivate people to visit the listed sites! Don’t write a book; instead, link to more detailed references.
5. Visit your waypoints and create sharable in-game bookmarks as well as take a screenshot (without the GUI). For Astrophotography tips, see this entry on our blog. Also, properly name and describe any submitted images with a good name and file description that has emphasis on what is being looked at.
6. Post your TripTik in your forum post and be sure to ping @jenhoshi when ready to be reviewed. Change the tag of your TripTik from "WIP" to "SUBMITTED".
Quick Submission Checklist
- Title
- Short 1 or 2-sentence summary
- Introduction summarize the TripTik Waypoint list
- Waypoint summaries with external links

Discord Tags List
TripTik post titles display a Tag in 🗪1420-expeditionary
Discord forum channel, based on their current status.
Discord tags set by the Researcher:
- WIP - New TripTik idea post (see How to Submit a TripTik).
- SUBMITTED - TripTik is ready for Curator review.
Discord tags set by the Curator/SC Leadership:
- POSTED - TripTik has been published on our public wiki here.
- DUPLICATE - TripTik subject duplicates existing TripTik content; topic will be locked.
- OBSOLETE - TripTik subject is obsolete for some reason, such as game mechanics, player actions, or another reason unrelated to the Researcher. Obsolete posts are locked.
- INACTIVE - TripTik is inactive because Researcher has left or was removed from the corp. Inactive TripTik ideas can be freely taken up by an SC member in a new post and may freely pull content from the inactive post. Inactive posts are locked.
Publication
When TripTik submissions are posted, Jen Hoshi will review and approve them. They will then be copy/pasted into the standard TripTik layout for the website. The page will be added to and linked in the TripTiks table. Once your TripTik is published, you are encouraged to share it with the community far and wide. Signal Cartel Leadership will promote TripTiks in social media and elsewhere.
Payouts
Since these do take a fair amount of effort, we’re going to offer compensation in the form of ISK as follows:
