Typically somewhere close to where they will be starting most of their activities from. Many pilots (an unusually high proportion are in SC) prefer to keep themselves roaming and never truly have a "home". Signal Cartel have 4 main Centers of Operations Solar System: Zoohen Region: Genesis Station: Zoohen III - Theology Council Tribunal Solar System: Gelhan Region: Derelik Station: Gelhan V - Moon 10 - DED Logistic Support Solar System: Saisio Regions: The Forge Station: Saisio VIII - Moon 4 - Perkone Factory Solar System: Thera Region: G-R00031 Station: Thera XII - The Sanctuary Institute of Paleocybernetics The benefits of making one of these bases a home station include convenient access to corp hangars, contracts and proximity to starting points of corporate events. All of these stations offer roughly the same services but Zoohen has emerged as the most popular. ===Insta-Docking and Insta-Warping=== Stations where you are docking into have a docking radius of 0. When you warp to 0 to a station or select Dock you do not always arrive at the station within the docking radius. You can be be up to 200m away depending from the direction you have travelled from. This means that you have to "slow boat" the additional 200m before you dock which can make you a very easy target. Insta-docking involves setting up an "Insta-dock" bookmark that is within the docking radius and you use this to warp to and then dock instead of using Dock from your point of travel. To set up the bookmark simply leave the station and whilst it is at 0 distance in your overview create your bookmark. Several stations already have Insta-dock bookmarks set up via Signal Cartel (e.g. Zoohan). Insta-Warping or Insta-Undocking is a method whereby you can immediately warp to a point when leaving a station without the need to accelerate or align. To enter warp you need to be aligned within 5 degrees of your target and at least 75% of maximum velocity. The idea of Insta-Warping is to have a preset bookmark that is within the 5 degree cone that your ship is facing when you undock, when undocking you are already at 100% velocity so when undocking you can simply warp to your bookmark and you will instantly warp. ==Navigation== ===Planning a Route=== ==Survival/Evasion== ==Situational Awareness== ==D-Scan== see also [[Directional Scanner and Overview]] ==Cloaking== ==Safe Spots== A safe spot are areas in space where you can sit "comfortably". They should be far away from any structure / celestial body so as to not be visible on D-Scan i.e. over 14AU away from anything (where possible). They should also not be on a direct path between two warpable objects (e.g. Moon 1 and Planet 2). If you are in a ship that can cloak then the requirement to be 14AU away from anything is not so great. To set up a safe spot, upon entering a new system, warp to a celestial within 100K e.g. a moon, set up a bookmark half way along. Warp back to that bookmark, then warp to 100K of a different celestial and create another bookmark half way along that route. This second bookmark can be your safe point. ==Gate Perches== A gate perch is a simple concept, it is a spot in space away from a jump gate but close enough to be able to see all ships etc. that are at the gate on your overview, somewhere typically between 500Km and 2,000km. From these points it's easy to tell what, if any sort of gate camps are present and work out how, if possible to navigate through them. Creating a gate perch can be done either by when entering a system, burning away from the gate (preferably not towards another celestial) until the desired distance is reached and then bookmarking. Alternatively, warping between spots (or from the gate to our already bookmarked safe spot) and setting a bookmark midway and then from that warping back to the gate (not warp to zero) and trying to bookmark as you get close, close enough so that the bookmark is at the desired distance. Another good use of this "perch" concept is for hacking sites. When warping into sites, try and set a bookmark at the exact point you first see the cans appear on the overview. Once landed, warp back to the bookmark and you should be over 150km from the cans. This means you can warp to zero to the can you wish to hack, hack away and warp back to the bookmark, then warp to zero back to your next can and hack etc. etc. This limits the amount of time you are moving between the cans as you are a likely target for hunters and depending on your ship you can cloak on your warps to and from the cans. ==Gate Camps== Next question for you then Null. How can you tell if a bubble is there, a HIC has one around it? a Dictor can launch one and there is a bubble around the, it has launched a probe? Null Flare β Today at 4:21 PM a dictor bubble becomes an 'ammo' type on grid, but does not appear on dscan. kind of like in between the large mobile warp disruptors (the normal stationary, deployed bubbles you see) and the hic bubble. the 'ammo' lasts 2 minutes and can you launch 3 before needing to reload you also cannot lock or destroy the dictor bubble, except using smartbombs Nubris Bramblesnatc β Today at 4:28 PM I'm in an explo ship, say a Helios. I have landed on my perch. I have a visual of bubbles, a stabber on the gate and debris. What are my options if I really need to jump? Null Flare β Today at 4:29 PM a helios is easy mode. you cloak up and see if there's a way around the debris. maybe the right hand side has less than the left hand side (well aware directions are kind of useless, but not sure how else to describe it?) if you can see a decent opening, you cloak up, hit the bubble and skirt your way round the debris a non-covops-cloaked ship will be more difficult, as they can see you coming but by far, the easiest way is find another route, whether it be a different gate, hopefully not actively guarded or a wormhole. or you can just take a cement pill and run the guantlet ==Bubbles== "Bubbles" are a collective name for the different types of warp disruption field you can find in only null sec and Wormhole space. Their main role is to prevent anything caught inside them from entering warp, they can also drag passing ships out of warp and pull them into the bubble radius (if the passing ship has it's warp trajectory in the same grid and inline with the bubbles sphere). There are 3 main types of bubbles (all of which show on D-SCan) Mobile Warp Disruptors - These are deployed from a ship with enough cargo space, can give a sphere of up to 80km in diameter and can last up to 14 days. Warp Disrupt Probes - These are deployed from Interdictors, can be up to 40k in diameter and last up to 2 minutes. Warp Disruption Field Generator - These are deployed from the Heavy Interdictor Cruisers, can be up to 48km in diameter and '''centres around''' the Heavy Interdictor that has deployed it, these bubbles will move as the HIC moves. These bubbles will last until the HIC docks, warps or is destroyed. There are 2 scenarios where you will come across a bubble. Either warping into one in the same system or jumping into one as you enter a new system (or entering one when undocking). The best method of stopping yourself from warping into a bubble (typically at a gate) is to warp to a safe spot / perch already created within D-Scan of a gate or to a nearby celestial. All types of bubble show up on D-Scan as do Interdictors and Heavy Interdictors. The 4 types of Interdictors are :- Heretic, Flycatcher, Eris, Sabre The 4 types of Heavy Interdictors are :- Devoter, Onyx, Phobos, Broadsword If there is a bubble / camp at your exit there are various solutions :- If you have a cloak then cloak up, enter the bubble and skirt your way around (avoiding ships and debris that would uncloak you) until you are close enough to jump. Take an alternate route, either via different gates or if one is in system via a worm hole. If you have an Interdiction Nullifier fitted then fire it up and warp on it! Finally, you can to quote our famous Null Flare "just take a cement pill and run the gauntlet"! If you jumped or undocked into a bubble then you need to move out of the bubble before being able to initiate warp. If you have jumped then remember you have time to plan accordingly before your gate cloak times out so do not panic. Look around, plan your escape route and then you need to move in that direction without breaking cloak and get out of the bubble. This is where the MWD-Cloak trick comes into play. Align, hit your MWD and cloak. If fast enough you will be out of the bubble before the first cycle of the MWD is up. After warping to your point of choice, if it's not a safe spot then immediately warp somewhere else when you land, most competent gate camps can determine where you have warped to just by the direction you have entered / aligned. ==Local Chat== Local Chat is your main source of intelligence around other players in the system around you. You can see the numbers of players and names. Right clicking and Show Info on a player name gives additional information including security status and employment history. With the use of third party tools (see later) you can quickly ascertain the nature of the players around you ("Care-bears", PVP'ers) etc. Of note, local chat does not display players when in a wormhole system, only when you talk in the chat channel is the name displayed. ==Wardecs== Occasionally SC are subject to War Declarations (Wardecs). In general this gives those issuing the declaration the ability to aggress and kill those subject to the Wardec in HS or LS without the intervention of Concorde. For SC, these are usually issued by a corporation who are issuing against several other corps at the same time, usually for a week with the most common areas of operation being the gates around Jita. The issuing corp has to pay 100,000,000 ISK per day to continue the declaration and the hope is they will gain enough kills / loot per day against the subject of the declaration to both pay off the money and also gain. Considering we in SC extensively explore both Null Sec and Wormhole space being subject to a Wardec is no different to daily life and as experts in survival it can usually be considered as a chance to hone your skills! ==Safe Logoff in Space== Safe log? is this being at a safe spot you have made and choosing the log off option. 30 sec countdown? Null Flare β Today at 4:37 PM yep so long as you are off grid and away from dscan, his only option (or his mates only option) is to combat scan you down, unless you've messed up your safe spot locations then as said, it's a waiting game. give it a few hours, he may have got fed up and left or had to log off for either rl or sleep issues =Tools of the Trade= ==Allison== ==Tripwire== ==Signal Cartelβs Little Helper== ==zKillboard== ==EVE Gatecamp Check== ==Dotlan==
