Dueling and Combat Training
We encourage combat training among corpmates in controlled environments. We would prefer that such training events be advertised and disclaimers shared regarding possible losses.
If you decide to duel with a fellow member or organize a free-for-all among corpmates, be sure to agree to the rules of engagement before starting. Once the combat starts, respect those agreements. For example, if you decide to duel until you get into hull then stop the engagement once hull damage is inflicted. Generally, we discourage dueling to the death because it adds more follow-up work for Leadership. As always, please remember that podding is prohibited.
Finally, sometimes things don't always go as planned during a duel or combat training. If you decide to engage in these activities and you lose a ship, work out the issue with your party. Please be respectful of Leadership's time when needing help resolving undesirable outcomes in these risky voluntary activities.
Our corp killboard is available at this link.
Had anyone asked me who was setting up a pvp free for all I wouldn’t have been able to say without looking up the thread. So no, my slow response is not anything personal.
But since we’re here let’s go over it. Corp policy does allow for duels and one on ones with emphasis on accentuating the training aspect of the activity. Historically, it’s been leadership’s position that the test server is best. It avoids the issue of inadvertent mistakes, lost ISK, and Credo infractions. That said, on occasion we have engaged in PvP on tranquility and again emphasized the learning aspect.
Training centric work makes sense as we understand that while we do not initiate pvp, pvp may be imposed on us. The understanding of offensive, and defensive modules is key in survival. It is in that context that Soldier of Fortune pvp is allowed with the expectation that the learning of those targeted system (nets, ecm, etc.) would be shared with the broader SC community.
However there is no requirement that Signal Cartel on Signal Cartel pvp be training only. So from a Corp policy Perspective, this rumble at the sun would seem fine with the following provision that players provide their views on fits, tactics, and their experiences in an AAR thread following the event.
I would suggest minimizing ship kills by going to hull, finding a quiet system, and ensuring pods are off the overview.

There are two key pieces here that make this a viable activity for Signal Cartel.
Firstly, the Soldier of Fortune career progression is focused on experiencing and learning PVP. Now, we are not a PVP Corp, but we do understand that PVP may find us regardless of our intentions. Secondly, our Friendly Fire/Duelling policy is specifically focused on learning to deal with those kinds of eventualities. “*****Friendly fire (FF) is legal in Signal to support live fire training events among signaleers ONLY and signaleer-on-signaleer duels.*****” – @Mynxee
Here are the activities from the Soldier of Fortune cycle that leadership is fine with in the context of this fleet
- Duels** – Invite a capsuler to a duel, Participate in duels (5/10/15)
- PVP** – Destroy player ships (2/3/4/5) – **no podding**
- EWAR** – Target Paint/Weapon Disrupt/Web/Warp Disrupt/Scram 5 player ships
- Cap War** – Drain energy (50/100/250 G), Neut 100/500/2000GJ)
- Support** – Repair (500/1000/2500) Armor HP on player ship, Boost (500/1000/2500) Shield HP on player ship
So long as these are done in a Signal Cartel fleet, with only Signal Cartel members, leadership is fine with it. We will want an email listing the engagement to help sort real kills from fleet kills. We also expected an AAR thread in the forums outlining fleet member’s experiences and **learnings** from the engagement
If the fleet is jumped members are to disengage. This is not a stand and fight type of scenario.
And again, so it is crystal clear, ***if you shoot a pod you will be removed***. I would strongly suggest you take pods off of your overview to avoid mistakes.
The other activities can be done on your own
- Career Agent Missions** – 10 missions
- Social** – Add a contact, send a chat, send an email, Join a Corp (but why would you ever leave?)
- Combat** – kill 75 Frigates/Destroyers/Cruisers (Can be rats)
- Destruction** – Lose ships (1/5/10/15/20) – can be against rats
- Faction Warfare** – right out. You want to learn, go enlist 😊
