Sites of Anoikis : C2 Systems
Background[edit]
With the appearance of unstable wormholes in YC111 the small galaxy of Anoikis opened up to capsulers. After a period of time CONCORD settled on a classification system for the various systems located in this “wormhole space”. Ranging from C1 to C6, the standard wormhole systems see progressively more deadly, and interesting, sites.
Expedition Highlights[edit]
Wormholes, Sleepers, and Drifters[edit]
The Anoikis galaxy lacks stargate links between stellar systems. In place of static links, as in New Eden, randomly shifting wormholes provide connections between stars. These links are by their nature short lived and random leading to an ever shifting stellar landscape.
Within Anoikis there are two main classes of sites - Anomalies and Cosmic Signature. Anomalies can be reached simply by warping to the site. Cosmic Signatures, on the other hand, require scan probes and a reasonable probe strength to isolate from the background noise.
When modern humans reached Anoikis they found that others had already been here for millennia. The majority of sites appear related to the Sleepers. An ancient Jovian offshoot, believed to have originated during the crisis of the 1st Empire, has sites scattered across Anoikis. A few sites, however, appear associated with the Talocan. These enigmatic human offshoots were masters of spatial manipulation and hypereuclidian mathematics. Where the Talocan are now is a mystery.
It should be mentioned that closely associated with Sleepers are the Drifters. Drifters, apparently modeling themselves after the 2nd Jovian Empires Tyrants, can appear in Anoikis and present a clear and present danger at all times.
Entering and moving about Anoikis[edit]
Ship Recommendations and General Travel Advisory[edit]
While EvE-Scout’s Thera service can provide entry and exit information to wormhole systems, the brief and random nature of these links makes travel into Anoikis in a non-scanning ship perilous.
Signal Cartel recommends visitors use either a Zephyr or some sort of covert ship like the Heron, Astero, Helios or Stratios. The ability to scan and cloak is invaluable in both finding systems and cosmic signatures. Furthermore, a cloak is an excellent tool for avoiding encounters with Sleepers, Drifters, or Capsuleers.
The Zephyr allows for pilots to remain uncloaked in Sleeper sites and to enjoy flying in formation with the guardian drones. The ship is fragile and provides only a probe launcher. For unknown reasons Sleeper drones seem to accept this ship as one of their own. Drifter ships do not. Since the Zephyr does not allow cloaking, pilots should be alert at all times.
Travel within Anoikis, with its delayed local, can feel empty and ominous. Capsuleer corporations do attempt to enforce sovereignty within wormhole systems. To this end, fast moving interdictors, and static warp bubble modules, can be encountered. Signal Cartel recommends a positive attitude, clever flying, and active use of d-scan on wormhole exits and entrances.
The locals are almost always appreciative of a wave in local. o/
Combat Anomalies[edit]
Class 2 systems present 4 combat centric sites. Current capsule technology allows immediate identification of these sites and does not require any form of scanning.
Perimeter Checkpoint[edit]
Guarded by sentry towers and a small cruiser/frigate fleet, the Perimeter Checkpoint shows remarkable preservation. The Enclave, Thermoelectric Converters and Multiplex Forwarders look untouched by time. The soft, blue glow from the local gas cloud leaves this site feeling like a step back in time.
Perimeter Hanger[edit]
Guarded by 3 cruisers and a pair of frigate class ships, this site possessed none of the refinement of the typical Enclave sites. Instead, large Sleeper Thermoelectric Converters sit with Sleeper Multiplex Forwarder data systems amongst large remnants of crystal asteroids and broken rocks.
Sleeper Data Sanctuary[edit]
Guarded by sentry towers and a pair of cruisers, this complex sits below an extensive glowing gas cloud. A single Sleeper Enclave is linked to two Sleeper Engineering Stations along with various power supplies and data transfer systems.
The Ruins of Enclave Cohort 27[edit]
Guarded by a small fleet of frigates led by a Sleeper Battleship, this shattered ring ruins in the beauty of classic Sleeper Enclaves. Enclaves consisted of a central hub and massive data transfer mechanism intended to provide the "residents" with a seamless virtual world. This site is broken with a long trailing gas cloud
Data/Relic Cosmic Signatures[edit]
Requiring scanning equipment these sites tend to lie within 4 AU of the various celestial sites in Anoikis systems. The distinction between Data and Relic sites lies in the ancient remnants found scattered about the sites.
Data Sites[edit]
Unsecured Perimeter Comms Relay[edit]
In the shadow of a massive rock formation this compact Sleeper site is patrolled by a small collection of cruisers. A faint emission gas cloud cast some small light on the ruin
Unsecured Transponder Farm[edit]
A few cruisers and a handful of frigates sit here caught between the remains of the Sleeper Enclave and support structure and the 2 black monoliths floating in space. It's unknown what tore this site apart but the presence of more monoliths raises questions about the kind of work being done in this site in ages past.
Relic Sites[edit]
Forgotten Perimeter Gateway[edit]
A small fleet of Sleeper cruisers hang here in space. The delicate Sleeper ring, made of the central Enclave and encircling Preservation Conduits has a companion. Spinning amongst a group of broken rocks are one or more Black Monoliths. Pilots may be familiar with a similar object in the Genesis' Dead End system. The question is, what is this one doing here?
Forgotten Perimeter Habitation Coils[edit]
Sleeper ships move about this Talocan structure. Consisting of a central Extraction Silo, two static gates and two Outpost Cores are connected to the central silo. The gates are dead and not even the hint of an energy discharge or emission cloud is present to suggest they could ever come back to life. Oddly, given the site's name, there are no coils of any kind here.
