Sites of Anoikis : C5 Systems
Background[edit]
With the appearance of unstable wormholes in YC111 the small galaxy of Anoikis opened up to capsulers. After a period of time CONCORD settled on a classification system for the various systems located in this “wormhole space”. Ranging from C1 to C6, the standard wormhole systems see progressively more deadly, and interesting, sites.
Expedition Highlights[edit]
Wormholes, Sleepers, and Drifters[edit]
The Anoikis galaxy lacks stargate links between stellar systems. In place of static links, as in New Eden, randomly shifting wormholes provide connections between stars. These links are by their nature short lived and random leading to an ever shifting stellar landscape.
Within Anoikis there are two main classes of sites - Anomalies and Cosmic Signature. Anomalies can be reached simply by warping to the site. Cosmic Signatures, on the other hand, require scan probes and a reasonable probe strength to isolate from the background noise.
When modern humans reached Anoikis they found that others had already been here for millennia. The majority of sites appear related to the Sleepers. An ancient Jovian offshoot, believed to have originated during the crisis of the 1st Empire, has sites scattered across Anoikis. A few sites, however, appear associated with the Talocan. These enigmatic human offshoots were masters of spatial manipulation and hypereuclidian mathematics. Where the Talocan are now is a mystery.
It should be mentioned that closely associated with Sleepers are the Drifters. Drifters, apparently modeling themselves after the 2nd Jovian Empires Tyrants, can appear in Anoikis and present a clear and present danger at all times.
Entering and moving about Anoikis[edit]
Ship Recommendations and General Travel Advisory[edit]
While EvE-Scout’s Thera service can provide entry and exit information to wormhole systems, the brief and random nature of these links makes travel into Anoikis in a non-scanning ship perilous.
Signal Cartel recommends visitors use either a Zephyr or some sort of covert ship like the Heron, Astero, Helios or Stratios. The ability to scan and cloak is invaluable in both finding systems and cosmic signatures. Furthermore, a cloak is an excellent tool for avoiding encounters with Sleepers, Drifters, or Capsuleers.
The Zephyr allows for pilots to remain uncloaked in Sleeper sites and to enjoy flying in formation with the guardian drones. The ship is fragile and provides only a probe launcher. For unknown reasons Sleeper drones seem to accept this ship as one of their own. Drifter ships do not. Since the Zephyr does not allow cloaking, pilots should be alert at all times.
Travel within Anoikis, with its delayed local, can feel empty and ominous. Capsuleer corporations do attempt to enforce sovereignty within wormhole systems. To this end, fast moving interdictors, and static warp bubble modules, can be encountered. Signal Cartel recommends a positive attitude, clever flying, and active use of d-scan on wormhole exits and entrances.
The locals are almost always appreciative of a wave in local. o/
Combat Anomalies[edit]
Class 5 systems present 4 combat centric sites. Current capsule technology allows immediate identification of these sites and does not require any form of scanning.
Core Garrison[edit]
Orthrus sentry towers and a small group of frigates lie in wait here. Aside from the Sleeper drones this site is exclusively Talocan in construction. Aside from the Talocan Observation Domes to the Reactor Spire the true giveaway is the Talocan Static Gate crowned in a glowing cloud of blue gases and, 130 km away, a spatial rift hanging in space.
Core Stronghold[edit]
In the shadow of massive Veldspar asteroids this Talocan site sits dead in space. The central Silo links two Extraction Units. The lack of activity in the two Static gates is what truly makes this Talocan site feel like the ruin it is. Orthrus sentry towers and a small collection of frigates sit here ready to defend the site from intruders.
Oruze Osobnyk[edit]
A complex structure that takes the typical Sleeper Enclave ring configuration and adds a Sleeper Enclave structure off the main plane of construction. The large numbers of Engineering Stations raises questions as to what exactly these sites were trying to accomplish.
Quarantine Area[edit]
An extensive Talocan site patrolled by a mixed fleet of frigates, cruisers and battleships in conjunction with Orthrus sentry towers. Oddly the Talocan Static Gate is powered down, or at least does not exhibit the typical energetic cloud of other Static gates. Looming in the background sits a Talocan Disruption Tower. Ship systems will be able to pick up a short recording from a time when this site was capable of enforcing the quarantine.
“You have entered a quarantine area. This region is infected. Leave now.”
“Violation of the quarantine will result in –"
“ –missiles are armed, ready to –“
Data/Relic Cosmic Signatures[edit]
Requiring scanning equipment these sites tend to lie within 4 AU of the various celestial sites in Anoikis systems. The distinction between Data and Relic sites lies in the ancient remnants found scattered about the sites.
Data Sites[edit]
Unsecured Frontier Enclave Relay[edit]
A small cohort of battleships guard this beautiful site. An intact Sleeper Enclave with a full ring of Sleeper Multiplex Forwarders sits a score of kilometers from a ring of menhirs roughly 50 m in diameter. While ship computers refer to the ring as a henge the lack of "horizontal" joining megaliths really makes this more of a ring of standing stones. The ring encircles a small central orb that pulses, and occasionally erupts, with a blue light.
The entire site sits wrapped in two clouds. A buzzing nest of blue lights in one and dark dust in the other.
Further, on occasion, a Talocan battleship may be found sitting high in the site.
Unsecured Frontier Server Bank[edit]
Frigates and cruisers ply the space here. The Sleeper station, a combination of derelict thermoelectric Converters and Preservation Conduits, sits just outside a massive debris field filled with a large station battery and multiple engine drive pieces. Some sites also sport a Talocan ship in the vicinity.
Relic Sites[edit]
Forgotten Core Data Field[edit]
Similar to a Class 1's Unsecured Perimeter Information Center, this site sits alone in space surrounded only by a host of Sleeper drones. The Sleeper Enclave still glows the classic blue and the Thermoelectric Converters continue to power the empty site.
Forgotten Core Information Pen[edit]
Sleeper battleships sit between Sleeper artifacts and a small construction lacking a central Sleeper Enclave. The entire site sits inside a cloud of diffuse gas dotted with smaller concentrated gas clusters. The effect gives the pilot the feeling of sitting inside its own small galaxy of stars.
