Kill Reporting

Signal Cartel (SC) members are responsible for reporting their kills (NOT their losses, unless it is a loss to CONCORD for a criminal act) to the Signal Cartel CEO with an appropriate explanation.

Specifically:

  • Kills listing a single Signal Cartel member as a damage dealer must be reported by that member (even if the kill is of another corp member as a result of, for example, a consensual training activity).
  • For kills that list multiple Signal Cartel members as damage dealers, reporting varies on the circumstance:
    • Signal Cartel led fleets (i.e., the FC is from SC) - the FC must make the report
    • Non-Signal Cartel led fleets (i.e., the FC is not from SC) - each individual Signaleer must make a report
    • Non-fleet group kills - the top damage dealer must make the report
  • Kills must be reported within 48 hours of their appearance on the killboard, the sooner the better.
  • Kills must be reported via EVEmail to the CEO.
  • The report must include a link to the individual kill on our corp zKillboard (not the in-game kill report, which can't be seen when not logged in).
  • The report must include the relevant portion of the combat log. The logs can be found under "Documents > EVE > logs > Gamelogs" and are named with date and time. It is recommended to upload the full log to a site like pastebin.com, and add its URL to the report. You MUST include the combat log when reporting any kill.

Killboard Timing Shenanigans

One thing to keep in mind about killboards is that when a ship is destroyed, any pilot who has aggressed that ship in the same system within a certain window of time (about 5 minutes) will appear on the kill report. This means that if a Signaleer takes an aggressive action toward a ship but does not destroy it, then one hour after the encounter the Signaleer must check if the other pilot was killed by someone else and the Signaleer appears in a kill report as one of the attackers. If this is the case, then the Signaleer must report the kill to the CEO.

Roles/Titles Suspension Without Notice

Leadership will remove without notice any roles and titles of Signaleers who appear as aggressors on killmails, pending the outcome of an inquiry. This may happen even if it is still within the 48-hour reporting window, as an incentive to report kills as soon as they occur.

Two Strikes and Out

The corporation maintains a "Two Strikes and Out" policy. Leadership assigns strikes to members for unjustified or unexplained Credo violations. Generally, Leadership tries to have a conversation with violators to better understand the circumstances and give them a reasonable amount of time to respond to inquiries. A pilot who earns two strikes is probably not a good fit for our corporation and will typically be kicked.

  • Failure to report a kill to the CEO by EVEmail within 48 hours of its occurrence and provide an explanation for how and why the kill happened will result in one strike.
    • If a pilot fails to report a kill, Leadership will then inquire.
  • Failure to respond to a Leadership inquiry within 48 hours will result in a second strike and usually in immediate removal from the corp.
    • Timely communication is the key to avoiding strikes and/or unpleasant circumstances. Providing a plausible self-defense explanation for a kill that is corroborated by the victim and/or other participants (Leadership will follow up with them in most cases) will remove any strikes against the pilot associated with the related kill.

Report Friendly Fire Engagements Immediately

With Friendly Fire set to legal (allowed), corp mates can skirmish amongst themselves if the parties involved agree to do so, typically for training purposes. Signaleers must report such activities to Leadership WHEN THEY OCCUR (preferably in advance if they are planned), including links to associated killmails.

Apologies and Restitution

In some circumstances, Leadership will ask a pilot to apologize and possibly also make restitution to someone they killed. Apology EVEmails must ALWAYS include our CEO as a recipient. Forwarded apology emails do not count because they are easily faked. ISK or other material restitution will be confirmed with the recipient. Refusing such requests or lying about having completed them is grounds for immediate dismissal from the corp.

Depending on circumstances and, to some degree, the pilot's attitude and initiative, strikes may be issued even if the pilot makes an apology and restitution. Often, they are "soft" strikes that will be removed from the pilot's record in six months if there are no other incidents.
